Driver Vehicle Inspections DEMO

When to Perform

All drivers should conduct their first on-the-road inspection within the first 50 miles of a trip.

Vehicles carrying hazardous materials are required to conduct on-the-road inspections every time they are stopped throughout their trips, but all drivers should do them in order to avoid problems.  After the first check, inspections should take place:

  • When a change of duty status is made,
  • Every three hours, or
  • Every 150 miles—whichever comes first.
