Respiratory Protection: Breathing Safely

OSHA's respiratory protection training requirements.
This interactive training course applies to all employees
who are, or may be, exposed to air contaminants above the permissible exposure
limits (PELs) or suggested exposure levels. This course may also be used for
respirator use that is required by company policy or that is voluntary.
Under CFR 1910.134, training must precede the use of any
respirator. Retraining is required to be conducted annually, and whenever
necessary to ensure safe use.

training course includes the information and training employees need for
required training on respiratory protection procedures.
The training provides general industry employees with
training on their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding themselves against
airborne hazards through the proper use of respirators, and also informs them of
their company's responsibilities.
Note: Company specific
and function specific training are also required by the regulation.
