Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Training
Hazardous materials regulations require you to train, test, and certify hazmat employees on what they need to know to perform their job duties. General awareness, function-specific, safety, and security awareness training are required. J. J. Keller offers best-in-class courses covering all of these areas.
Hazmat workers need to follow the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs) to make sure all hazmat is packed and handled safely during shipping. The rules help communicate the possible hazards of any material being shipped to everyone involved. This includes motor carriers, hazmat workers, and emergency crews.
The HMRs require hazmat employees be training and tested within 90 days before they can do any tasks that apply to the rules.
Hazardous Materials Safety Training Curriculum
The Hazmat Training curriculum from J. J. Keller is designed to familiarize employees with the HMRs and provide them with the information they need to keep themselves, and others, safe around hazardous materials. And because facilities that house, or vehicles that transport hazmat, may be targeted for sabotage, the program introduces employees to security risks associated with the hazmat transportation process and ways to enhance security, as well as how to spot a possible security threat and respond appropriately.
The hazmat training curriculum includes four core modules:
