Attorney-Client Privilege for Employees
Course Length: 30 minutes
It's never a good thing when attorney-client privileged materials fall into the wrong hands. When this happens, an organization may lose the valuable protections that apply to these materials - thus opening the door for an opposing party to use those materials against the organization in litigation, for example. Yet in many organizations, employees have access to confidential attorney-client privileged material and attorney work product. Because such material is highly sensitive and vulnerable to disclosure, employees need to understand the concept of the attorney-client privilege, how it applies, the consequences of improper disclosure of privileged communications or materials, and how to prevent improper disclosure and inadvertent waiver of the privilege.
This course explains the attorney-client privilege and attorney work product doctrine in simple, understandable terms. It includes news bulletins, pop quizzes, and a final quiz highlighting real-world scenarios that illustrate the scope of the attorney-client privilege and how to avoid disclosure or waiver.
