EYE ON Defensive Driving

Course Length: 30 minutes

Overview: Defensive driving skills are impacted by a variety of factors, most under a driver’s control. Pre-trip inspections are the first step because these inspections ensure all systems are working properly in a vehicle. Lights, brakes, signals, among other things, are functioning as they should be. Defensive driving means that a driver is aware of other drivers and situations and practicing proper speed and space management. Having the right attitude is also essential to defensive driving.

This course is designed to familiarize CMV drivers with the basics of defensive driving, including steps to take to managing speed and space, making sure you are seeing hazards as well as being seen, and having the right attitude.
