Fall Protection: Workplace Safety

Overview: Falls are one of the most common causes of workplace injuries and deaths. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2012, falls, slips, and trips accounted for 285,380 nonfatal injuries and 570 fatal work injuries.
This online course is designed to help you recognize fall hazards and teach you to take the proper measures to ensure safety when working on elevated work platforms or runways, or near floor, wall, or window openings.
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain how injuries by falling or falling objects occur
- Summarize employer requirements to protect workers from fall hazards
- Identify what fall protection is and when it is required
- Describe ways to eliminate and prevent fall hazards in the workplace
- Recognize the four components of a personal fall arrest system
