CDL Class A Driver Training: Hours of Service: Working Time
Course Length: 20 minutes
Intended Audience: CDL Class A Drivers
Overview:
The hours-of-service regulations are contained in Part 395 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (or FMCSRs).
They apply to commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) involved in interstate commerce and cover two areas:
- Hours of service. The number of hours which drivers can drive and/or work in a given period of time. These are hours drivers must account for; and
- Drivers' time records. What drivers use to keep track of their hours of service.
The hours-of-service regulations are designed to keep fatigued drivers off the road and, in turn, reduce the number of fatigue-related crashes.
CDL Class A Driver Training: Hours of Service: Working Time is designed to help inexperienced CDL Class A drivers learn the different duty statuses and working limits to comply with hours-of-service regulations.
