Course Disclaimer: This course can be used to help satisfy the theory instruction portion of the new entry-level driver training (ELDT) requirements that go into effect on February 7, 2022. To satisfy the theory instruction requirements, this course must be assigned and administered by a school or other entity listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Training Provider Registry (TPR). To satisfy the complete ELDT training requirements, the school or entity conducting the training must provide the driver-trainee "behind-the-wheel" instruction in addition to theory instruction.
Regs Covered: Unit A1.4.3 Maintenance
This unit must introduce driver-trainees to the basic servicing and checking procedures for various engine and vehicle components and to help develop their ability to perform preventive maintenance and simple emergency repairs.
Overview: Class A CDL vehicles are complex machines with many moving parts and components that must be cared for. Although some companies require drivers to take a more active role in vehicle maintenance than others, or others may even prohibit drivers from performing certain maintenance tasks, drivers need to know how to inspect a vehicle and take care of it.
This course is designed to help drivers understand the maintenance needed to keep vehicles in top operating condition
