Entry-Level Driver Training (Hazmat Endorsement): Basic Introductory and Operational Hazardous Materials Requirements
Course Length: 34 minutes
Intended Audience: Drivers who are applying for the hazardous materials endorsement on their commercial driver's license (CDL).
Course Disclaimer: To work with hazardous materials (hazmat) safely, drivers must have a wide array of knowledge in many different areas. Without this knowledge drivers can potentially put themselves and others in serious danger.
Entry-Level Driver Training (Hazmat Endorsement): Basic Introductory and Operational Hazardous Materials Requirements is designed to teach drivers the basic competencies for transportation of hazmat, including: shipping paper requirements, marking, labeling, placarding, emergency response information, and shipper's responsibilities.
Objectives
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
- List driver and shipper responsibilities for the preparation and transportation of hazardous materials
- Discuss the importance of the Hazardous Materials Table and the information the Table contains
- Describe the information contained in shipping papers and where to store shipping papers during the transportation of hazardous materials
- Explain the requirements for markings, labels, and placards
