Entry-Level Driver Training (Passenger Endorsement): Weigh Stations
Course Length: 8 minutes
Intended Audience: Drivers who are applying for an initial commercial driver's license (CDL) or drivers upgrading their current CDL.
Overview: Vehicle weigh stations are positioned on major highways throughout the country. As the name suggests, their main purpose is to weigh large vehicles. They help protect roadway infrastructure by identifying vehicles that weigh more than allowed. They also increase highway safety by identifying unsafe vehicles and drivers and removing them from the road when necessary. As the driver of a passenger-carrying vehicle, you may or may not need to stop at weigh stations depending on where you operate, because each state regulates who has to stop at its scales.
Entry-Level Driver Training (Passenger Endorsement): Weigh Stations is designed to help drivers understand weigh stations and what they can expect—and what they are required to do—when they encounter one.
