Entry-Level Driver Training (Passenger Endorsement): Roadside Inspections

Course Length: 30 minutes

Intended Audience: Drivers who are applying for an initial commercial driver's license (CDL) or drivers upgrading their current CDL.

Overview: At some point in driving career—and perhaps many times—you and your vehicle will undergo a roadside inspection. Roadside inspections are conducted by specially trained enforcement personnel, following specific inspection criteria and guidelines. They're working hard to ensure our highways are safe for everyone.

If the documents, or the vehicle exhibit a violation, the driver may be fined, cited, and/or placed out of service. Violations involving emergency exits, brakes, or driver licensing are common culprits. In this module the individual will learn when and where roadside inspections are conducted, what to expect during a roadside inspection, which types of violations could result in an out‑of‑service order, and the ramification and penalties for violations.

Entry-Level Driver Training (Passenger Endorsement): Roadside Inspections is designed to help inexperienced drivers prepare for and know how to participate in a roadside inspection.
